Women and Girls in Haiti's Reconstruction: A Dialogue Addressing Stigma and Discrimination Associated with Sexual Violence (June 2012)

MADRE, KOFAVIV, the International Women's Human Rights Clinic at CUNY School of Law, and the World Bank hosted the workshop on the linkage between health services and legal remedies for survivors of gender-based violence on February 7, 2012, bringing together over 100 participants from diverse sectors, including grassroots women’s rights activists, medical professionals, judges, lawyers, prosecutors, and members of the Haitian government. This first of three workshops aimed to closely examine the role of medical certificates in the prosecution of crimes of sexual violence, and produced a series of recommended measures to remedy the challenges identified by participants in the administration of medical certificates in Haiti.
